JASON WU LANDS ARTISTIC DIRECTOR POSITION
If you haven't yet heard of this dazzling news then you're obviously not in the loop, but now you know. So, as of this past weekend the lovely and fabulously skilled Mr. Jason Wu was signed for the honorary position of Artistic Director for Hugo Boss womenswear.
What does this mean for Wu? Well, according to the Telegraph, he will be in charge of the main RTW (ready-to-wear) and the accessory collections in the future of this brand. Although the newly famed designer will surely be busy at his new role at BOSS, he will still avidly design and maintain his own innovative label in NYC. On the other side of the world, BOSS, which is primarily based in Germany, Wu will work with BOSS' German team as well as work to establish a New York studio for this visionary brand. Wu will be debuting his first line in winter for the Pre-Fall 2013, and Fall 2014 collections presented at NYFW, (New York Fashion Week), in February.
Even though you, as a fellow fashion admirer, may think of Wu as a well know name in the designer world, he his relatively new to this complex and untraditional game. Many a fashion guru know Wu from his seemingly most famous client, the one and only, Michelle Obama, who wore Wu's design to both of the inaugural balls.
But Wu isn't only famous for his dresses for the First Lady, oh no, he's been plenty busy over the years. Not only did he single handedly create Miss Wu; a diffusion line for Target, he's also been involved in collaborations with big brand names like Lancôme and Swarovski.
Now that he has been all over Twitter in the mentions this week for his newly announced role at BOSS the whole world should now be aware of his greatness. Now I have to ask: will you be watching the shows come winter 2013? YOU BETTER BE.
AU REVOIR.
